Walk the Line

jc   jcc I chose to create a mood board for the film Walk the Line. The film retells the relationship between Johnny Cash and June Carter. It takes place from the late 1950- late 1960’s. Viewers get a true sense of the love these two felt for each other and we can see the their major transitions through their clothing, which was designed by Arianne Phillips. Johnny Cash is known for wearing black. This was a major style change for him in the late 1960’s as he turned his life and career around. It was through the detail in trims, findings, and embroidery did he show variation in style. June Carter and her family were all country singers. She was a true southern girl and it was clearly expressed in her personality and style. Her performing wardrobe was classic for the time and style of music in which she sang. She wore colorful floral prints, as wells as flannels and extravagant dresses. As their relationship develops her style subtly changes especially through her hair and accessories. I wanted to demonstrate how their relationship changed each other for the better and how their wardrobe was indicative of that change and growth.
